Data recovery after system crash
Vorheriges Thema  Nächstes Thema

A system crash is always annoying, but your datas and measurements can be recovered. ACAM saves all gathered data in temporary file. Even in the event of a blackout, or a restart after a system crash, the file saves all your data. To recover it and save it in NOAH please proceed as described in the following chapter:

Step 1: Start ACAM in Stand-Alone-Mode

Fig.: Starting ACAM in Stand-Alone-Mode

To do so click on the 'Start' button in Windows. Then on 'Program Files' / 'ACAM' / 'ACAM5'.

Do not start the ACAM software in the NOAH interface!!!

Step 2: Start a data export in ACAM

Fig.: 'Administration' tab in the ACAM software interface

  • Click on the 'Administration' tab in the software.
  • Click on the 'Delete/Export/Import' subtab.
  • Click the button 'Export'
  • Now you will be asked where to save your datas. Choose a directory where you will retrieve the file!n.

Fig.: 'Save as' -dialogue

The picture beside shows the 'Save as..' dialogue. Choose a path on your hard disk where you can retrieve the file. We recommend to label the file with your client's name for better recognition (in the example its Harald Bonsel). When you click 'Save' the file will be saved in the directory ('Test' in the exmple) with the name you chose and the ending '.ACAM'.

Now close the ACAM software.

Step 3: Start NOAH and import the datafile.

In the 3rd and last step please start NOAH, open your client for whom you want to recover your measurements. Then start the ACAM software via the module-selection of NOAH.

Now you've started a new session of your client. The ACAM software has no datas and values. But you can now import the file you saved earlier.

For that please click again on the 'Administration' tab and on the subtab 'Delete/Export/Import'. Now please click the 'Import' button and search for the previously saved file (in the example above the file would be labelled as: 'Harald Bonsel.ACAM'), and open it.

Now the software will display a warning that any existing data in the current session will be overwritten with the import-file's datas. Click on 'Proceed' and the datas will berecovered.

Now you can close ACAM as is usual and afterwards save the measurements in the NOAH's database..

The interaction between NOAH and ACAM:

Our software is tested with the NOAH 3 System software. That means the Stand-Alone software of NOAH without an administrative software.

Because of the large amount of datas ACAM is gathering and sending constantly to the computer, it is possible that the computer's RAM fills with datas and finally cannot process the newest datas of ACAM. In this case the data is not saved. You can avoid this problem by restarting the computer frequently (for example at the end of the work day). Because of  the large amount of datas it is important to do this on computers that are  frequently used and on those where a lots of different clinet's and sessions were opened and edited during the day. Because of the large variety of softwares (administrative software, fitting software etc.) we cannot provide a remedy for this problem.
