Audiometry CD Play Back

The ACAM System Audio CD Capabilities:

Audio CDs can be played in the speech audiometry, the hearing instrument fitting, and the children audiometry windows of the ACAM System.

There are specific requirements that must be met in order to play an audio CD in the ACAM System:

  1. Does ACAM know the CD?
  2. Does a control file exist for the CD?
  3. Does the CD provide encrypted audio files?

Note:

It is not possible to present audio files through any soundcard and through any channel as a wave file because this would result in a penalty of copyright violation.

Method for Playing Audio CDs in the ACAM System:

  1. The physical audio CD must be inserted into the computer system in order to play the audio files.
  2. If an audio CD is read and identified correctly by the system, its' name will appear in the CD-ROM window (Figure 142).
  3. If a control file exists for this CD it is displayed in the ACAM System. Up to 20 control files can be saved in the ACAM System database. The control file provides access to the individual word events and displays them in the software.
  4. The audio files of the CD are always presented through the computer's soundcard. If the computer's soundcard is not connected to the ACAM System audio playback will not be possible.
  5. The audio files of some CDs will be opened as encrypted files. These files will be available on the computer being used. If the ACAM System detects that a control file is available in a special directory of the ACAM System, the special directory files will be used to playback the audio files.
  6. When you do not start the ACAM System with the CD to be used as recommended above, click on the button <identify now CD>. The ACAM System will identify the CD and look for it in the ACAM System database.
