Fewer measurements are available in the real ear measurement. Figure 102 shows the available measurement options for real ear measurements.

In this section, the differences between the test box and real ear measurements are described.

The actual real ear measurement procedures are not described in this section. Please refer to the section: Measuring (Box Real Ear).”

After recording REUR in the ACAM System, switch the display between REAR (real ear) and REIR (insertion gain) since the display does not automatically switch.

Figure 102: Save window in the real ear measurement

To switch the displays, double click on the background of the ACAM System screen to launch the Save window.

Switch between REAR and REIR or display both REAR and REIR at the same same by clicking a checkmark (Figure 102).

Note: Target constructions, such as NAL and derivations in the percentile analysis always refer to REIR (i.e. insertion gain).

Figure 102: More options for save menu

Click on an item in the save menu to show more options for real ear measurements. The items are: Convert into in situ cruve when clicking on a normal frequency curve or convert into test box curve when you click on an REUG entry.

It is useful to copy curves in case they are accidentally saved in the wrong location.

Check the measuring system before beginning a real ear measurement. Particulary when the probe tube is changed since it will no longer be calibrated.

Calibration is recommended for the real ear measurement. A flat line should appear after successful calibration. If a flat line is not within the tolerance values after repeated calibration attempts, please contact ACOUSTICON live support.

The ACAM System with two probes:

Enable either the left or right probe by clicking the appropriate button.

Click the <ri> button to perform a calibration and measurement for the right probe, then click on the <leI> button and perform the same procedure for the left probe.

Transferring Measurements to the Test Box:

A RECD measurement option is available in the ACAM System, which is used to simulate a real ear measurement.

Figure 104: RECD button disabled

  • The <recd> button is disabled (Figure 104).
  • RECD cannot be enabled and no measurement can be transferred to the test box.
  • It is necessary to first perform a RECD measurement.

Figure 105: RECD button enabled

  • Click the <recd> button to enable the measurement (Figure 105).
  • The measure can be performed in the text box, but not real ear.
  • However, the results are displayed in the real ear screen.

Application and calculation of the REUG:

Several recorded REUR curves may be applied against one another.
